Il Cedrillo è una pianta originaria dell’America tropicale. Albero sempreverde di rapida crescita, raggiunge fino ai 10-12 metri. I rami tendono a disporsi orizzontalmente o verso il suolo, le foglie sono lanceolate e piuttosto ruvide al tatto. Il Cedrillo si riproduce grazie ai semi che sono fotosensibili, ossia necessitano di luce per germinare. La pianta è adatta ai climi tropicali e può sopravvivere anche a lunghi periodi di siccità.
