Instead of explaining the meaning of each value, I prefer to give you a much more practical and useful estimate, namely:
HOW MANY VISITORS IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE PER MINUTE?
With an optimised website, this value is 600.
Q:
FANTASTIC! 600 visitors ... per minute ?? They are really a lot!
But what does it mean to have an optimised website? And why exactly 600?
A:
To answer both questions, we need to do some simple reasoning.
Of all the values above, the most useful is ’20 simultaneous PHP processes’, in English ‘entry processes’.
When a new visitor enters www.youwebsite.com, a process starts, and ends when the page has fully loaded. So the length of the process depends on the loading time of your site, i.e. how fast it is.
20 simultaneous processes means that, for example, if your homepage takes 2 seconds to fully load, then if 20 people opened your site at exactly the same time, no one else could visit it for 2 seconds.

In reality, however, it is not possible that everybody click altogether at exactly the same time, so it is more useful to calculate how many visitors it is possible to have in a minute..
Here is the calculation:
- Loading time of the homepage = 2 seconds.
- Simultaneous PHP processes per second = (total number of processes / seconds) => 20/2 => 10
- Simultaneous processes per minute = (Total number of processes / seconds * 60 seconds) => 10 * 60 => 600
So if your homepage had a load time of 2 seconds, you would have 600 simultaneous PHP processes per minute, i.e. simultaneous visitors per minute.
Q:
OOOOK! Now I understand why it is important to have an optimised site. Is that all?
A:
Of course not! An optimised site is useful for at least other 4 reasons:
As we have just said, to put less strain on the server and thus be able to serve more visitors
To obtain a better ranking from Google, as the loading speed of the site is one of the parameters considered by the famous page rank of Google.
To offer your visitors a more pleasant navigation, as a fast and snappy site is an excellent business card!
