Treeaveller
Simona's love for trees and travel & Federico
A four-handed blog with a particular name: the union between TREE, tree, and TRAVELER, traveller. Treeaveller tells of the love for trees, source of life; and for travel, a source of fun, joy, growth, openness to others and to the world.

YOUR SITE IS CALLED TREEAVELLER (TREE + TRAVELER) AND CONTAINS THE WORDS TRAVEL AND THE WORDS TREE. WHERE DOES YOUR LOVE FOR TREES COME FROM?
We believe it is something ancestral. If we think about it, since we were children we have liked to climb branches, and trees are one of the first things we draw. Furthermore, they are indispensable: we owe our life to trees, without it we wouldn't last a day! Trees are fascinating, resistant and fragile, beautiful and majestic. Woods and forests then create very rich and incredible ecosystems, because they are home to many species.
They are also excellent stress relievers. Not only if we hug them, but also walking in a forest is super relaxing. There's been a lot of talk about it lately but we've always said it: one of the first pieces of our blog talked about the benefits of 'bathing in the forest'.
For us the tree is a little’ the symbol of nature, life, growth.
In fact, the tree has been present in many human myths and legends since the dawn of civilization: the tree of life, the tree of knowledge, the tree of paradise, the tree of the universe and so on. Even Jung, the great psychologist of the twentieth century, had noticed that the tree, in symbolic form, appeared to his patients in moments of crisis as an image of encouragement. In short, as we said at the beginning, there is something ancestral that binds us to these living beings and we, in our small way, try to do justice to their beauty and their usefulness.
Federico also has a degree in botany so he has evidently always cultivated this passion!

I SAW THAT YOU ARE LOVERS OF STREET ART. WHICH CITY FOR YOU HAS THE BEST STREET ART? DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE ARTIST?
We don't want to seem too biased, but for us Rome has a very lively and rich street art scene, truly at the top. Perhaps it is surprising, because we usually think of a very different type of art when we think of our city, yet in recent years many projects have been developed in many different neighborhoods. To discover them you need to take tours just for that!
We have more than one favorite artist, it's difficult to choose just one name. The first that came to mind is Agostino Iacurci, with his colorful murals similar to illustrations. But we cannot fail to mention Blu: his are real works of denunciation that make you think and leave you speechless. Can we say one more? Simona loves Julieta XLF, with its world full of colors and magic. All three passed through Rome, more or less, leaving behind magnificent works.

IF YOU HAD TO CHOOSE ONE STATE TO LIVE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
We were very impressed by Berlin: dynamic, rich in culture and tidy. After all, we are hardened citizens! So the first answer without thinking too much would be Germany. But the real dream is Canada with all its forests and lakes. A nice chiringuito in the middle of the forests and goodbye stress, right?

WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE YOUR TRIPS MORE ECOLOGICAL?
When traveling we always try to limit waste, bringing it home if necessary. In the Maldives for example it is a good rule, because obviously since they are all atolls they have serious problems managing them and it is better to leave them as little as possible.
Then we try not to waste water, to use little plastic (we also think about bringing our own water bottle) and not to exploit animals, such as the now famous donkeys of Santorini, forced to cart tourists up the hills. In general we are attentive to the environment where we move, respecting flora and fauna, beaches, monuments and people.
Then, since we take planes and often rent a car (not in the city obviously!), we try every day in Rome to compensate for this in some way. For example, we move by public transport or on foot, and we assure you that in the capital it is not very simple.
At work we launched the trend of glass bottles instead of disposable plastic ones, so many colleagues have now abandoned this harmful habit. Then we prefer to use green products for cleaning the house, and in general products with little plastic and as biodegradable as possible. We also bought bamboo cutlery (not for daily use), good to carry around even when we go out for just one day. We also try to waste food as little as possible, both at home and when travelling.
We also continue to separate waste, with a lot of optimism because the waste situation in our city is nothing short of disastrous.
Of course, we would like to become Zero Waste, Zero Waste, but it's really hard…
Last thing: we have given ourselves and are giving away trees that are planted in your name in various parts of the world, a useful and tasty service since you can decide the name of your tree and follow it as it grows!
