PAN JUMPING
ELENA'S KITCHEN
Elena loves to close herself in the kitchen and relax, just as she loves to feel the scents of the kitchen wafting through the house. Stir-frying it's the blog where he talks to us about his cooking!
Welcome to Easy Travel Hosting! How did your passion for cooking begin and are you more into sweet or savory foods?
Thank you very much for the invitation. My passion was born over time. I'm not one of those little girls who messed around in the kitchen when they were little. I have always loved being in the kitchen watching my mother and grandmother cook, I spent hours admiring their skill in rolling out the pastry with a rolling pin or kneading bread or wraps.
But I never put them on “hands in the mix”. Then when I moved to study at university I obviously started cooking a bit, and it won me over. Now the kitchen is truly my kingdom, the place where I relax and recover from the hardships of everyday life.
When I'm tired, I relax in the evening by preparing some cakes, so I also make the family happy.
I have a huge sweet tooth, so my passion is sweets.
I also really love my traditional recipes, such as egg pasta, or Romagna piadina, but desserts are really the thing I love most. I even love preparing them more than eating them.

Your dishes have very beautiful presentations, with plays of colors and shapes. How important is aesthetics in the preparation of a dish?
The aesthetics of the dishes are obviously very important. As they say, you eat with your eyes first than with your mouth. The sight obviously stimulates interest in a dish.
But without going too far, I confess that I don't like dishes that are too refined even aesthetically. I am of the opinion that substance should not take second place compared to appearance; you must focus first on the final taste, then on the plating.

Have you ever found yourself preparing a lunch or dinner and nothing went smoothly?
Yes it has happened to me several times. It always happens to me when I have to prepare lunches or dinners for guests. When I prepare for us everything almost always goes smoothly, apart from perhaps some forgetting of pans on the stove, but when I have guests or am asked for particular dishes cataclysms always happen.
Murphy's law is unforgiving. The worst situation, which I had to face and which I will never forget, was when a cake that I had been asked for for a graduation party of thirty people spilled onto the floor while I was packing it. AND’ It was a tragic moment.

What do you do to make your life greener?
I am particularly sensitive to this topic. I am of peasant origin so in my house there has always been a very close contact with nature and the earth. My grandmother had lived through both wars so she always told me about the restrictions they faced in those years.
He taught me that food is precious and that everything in the kitchen can be reused, nothing should be thrown away.
I love recycled recipes very much because they are a stimulating challenge to find new ideas for using ingredients. And I find that often recycled recipes are even better than many recipes with refined ingredients.
In fact, in my blog there are many ideas for reusing what is normally considered waste.
I also deeply hate cars, which I don't own. It stresses me out a lot driving in traffic.
Since I was little I have loved cycling, so I get around the city using my trusty bicycle, and for long journeys I prefer public transport, mainly the train,
