Il mogano è un albero sempreverde. Può raggiungere fino ai 60 metri di altezza e vivere fino a 350 anni. Il legno è estremamente forte con una tessitura fine, di color rossiccio una volta che l’albero giunge a maturità.
Il mogano ha un sistema radicale molto forte, in grado di prevenire l’erosione del terreno circostante. È una parte molto preziosa di un ecosistema sano.
Il mogano è considerato un albero a rischio, perché a causa del suo legno estremamente pregiato, è stato utilizzato in maniera non sostenibile.
