Mahogany is an evergreen tree. It can reach up to 60 meters in height and live up to 350 years. The wood is extremely strong with a fine texture, reddish in color once the tree reaches maturity.
Mahogany has a very strong root system, capable of preventing erosion of the surrounding soil. It is a very valuable part of a healthy ecosystem.
Mahogany is considered a tree at risk because, due to its extremely valuable wood, it has been used in an unsustainable manner.
