Today we chat with Lara and Davide, authors of the blog Travel Run Dream which was born from their shared passions, namely travel, running and obviously dreams!
Welcome to Easy Travel Hosting! Two hearts on the road, between nature, sport and authentic experiences. Can you tell us about your blog and your travel style?
The blog was born from the union of our two main passions: traveling and running, they are two distant but close worlds because in reality sometimes we choose a marathon in a city precisely because we have never seen it, so we combine business with pleasure.
Then obviously there are all the other trips we take regardless of the races but in which we always bring our running shoes because we discover routes that you wouldn't find on the bus
We are backpackers, we like to travel slowly, by bus and train, trying to see as much as possible of the place we visit, as well as always seeking contact with the locals because they are experiences that remain in your heart.
Finally, we favor guest houses over resorts because we love a more homely and intimate atmosphere
We saw that you traveled to Malaysia, not one of the most common destinations. Can you tell us about this trip?
A trip to Malaysia is definitely a road trip, where we took domestic flights, buses and ferries, as well as taking long daily walks to see as much as possible in each stop.
You pass through a Kuala Lumpur full of contradictions between modernity and typical neighborhoods, and then visit a George Town where you find all the true flavor of the Asian atmosphere.
You can then refresh yourself in the verdant tea plantations in Cameron Highlands and then relax in a crystal clear sea, among dazzling white sand, and areas of dense jungle in the Perhentian Islands.
Let's say it is a journey through nature, paradisiacal islands, thousand-year-old traditions but also modernity. It is a country little visited by mass tourism, but capable of leaving you speechless.
On your trip to London you visited an area that is often not touched by tourist itineraries, but which is well known by the more alternative Londoners. We are in east London, can you tell us about your experience in this area?
We will say that it was a wonderful experience. An area of London not to be missed, lively, colorful and full of creative energy.
Bright colors that contrast with the typical London brick buildings, which practically catapult you into another world with your eyes always turned upwards in search of street art works.
You are practically enveloped in the bright colors of some streets and the scent of Indian spices from the various food markets found in this neighborhood.
What do you do to make your travels eco-friendly?
First of all, we always carry our water bottles with us, so as not to buy plastic bottles in the places we visit, where waste is a big problem, especially in Asia.
We tend to always walk around or mostly take buses and trains, except unfortunately for the main flight which we know does not have a positive impact on zero impact.
We always eat in traditional places, avoiding the big chains, as well as sleeping in local accommodation to the detriment of mass tourism resorts.
Furthermore, especially in this last year, that we have remained in Italy, we try to choose eco-friendly accommodation, which adopt plastic-free policies or which are supplied with zero km products. Among other things, these accommodations are usually in unique places completely surrounded by nature, and therefore it is also a better awakening for us in the morning.
