WELCOME TO EASY TRAVEL HOSTING! WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK TO US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU AND HOW YOUR SITE WAS CREATED?

Vagamondo.it was born thanks to the experience gained over the years, a degree in Economic Sociology and a Master's degree in Tourism Economics at Bocconi University in Milan.

Since 1998 as a tour operator, with my first agency, I have organized individual and group trips, especially to "youth" destinations such as Spain, Holland, Oktoberfest, France, amusement parks and more. As a videomaker, I acquired a collaboration with the German TV Bayerischer Rundfunk for a reportage on the occasion of the Oktoberfest and subsequently created a TV format of historical, tourist, socio-cultural and food and wine routes, broadcast on various Italian regional TV channels.

With the arrival of the web in the tourism sector, I created several hotel booking portals, putting the traveler in direct contact with accommodation facilities without charging any commission. Later, expanding and improving my experiences and passion for travel, Vagamondo Travel Blog was born.

Designed to suggest travel offers and itineraries, promote tourist destinations, showcase art, culture, popular traditions and events around the world. It is a blog open to all those who wish to share their travel experiences with others, with fewer clichés and more complete information, experimenting with new communication channels such as social networks.

PROPOSE LOW COST ITINERARIES. DO YOU THINK THAT THESE TIMES THOSE WHO WANT TO TAKE A HOLIDAY ARE STRUGGLING TO FIND AFFORDABLE OFFERS?

Yes, because the offer on the internet is vast and often misleading. There are hundreds of websites that offer stays at unrealistic prices and often there are some gullible people who take the bait.

Fortunately, today with the tools that the internet offers, the traveller, who is also a consumer, has many possibilities to defend himself. Just read the reviews on sites like Facebook or Tripadvisor to know if that facility or airline is honest or not. In short, we just need to find out a little to know if our holiday will be fantastic or a disappointment.

On the other hand, and I'm biased here, you wanted the bicycle and now you pedal. In the sense that before the advent of the internet, to book a trip there was the custom of going into a travel agency and there was always some professional agent we could turn to with complaints and who would advise us on how and where, now with online bookings we have to "do it ourselves" and if we are not careful enough it is easy to fall into the unexpected.

Here, here is the solution Vagamondo Travel Blog: reliable sites where you can book a flight or a hotel, ideas for a weekend, the best travel insurance companies and exclusive offers for stays, where we try to put the traveler in direct contact with accommodation facilities without charging any commission.

OF ALL THE PLACES YOU HAVE VISITED, WHICH HAS CAPTURED YOUR HEART MORE THAN THE OTHERS?

I might surprise you by telling you that the best trip was to Türkiye and Syria, after graduation. Or around the hostels of Europe with a backpack on my shoulders, or my first time in New York or Amsterdam, but no. The place that captivated me the most, and I say this from the bottom of my heart, was my trip to Sicily.

Perhaps it is due to the historical moment we are experiencing due to the ongoing pandemic or because I was there for the first time mid-80s as a school trip, those that are taken before the much desired high school diploma. Or perhaps because those were the years of Live Aid, the hope of a better world, of the first rock concerts I attended around Europe, and we were all innocent carefree kids in our adolescence and we had fun with little and everything was a discovery.

Daily. On that holiday, we were all in a famous tourist village in Terrasini, a few kilometers from Palermo. We stayed there for about a week and every day there was a bus excursion from the village: Selinunte, Segesta, Trapani and the splendid Erice, Cefalù, the Valley of the Temples, Syracuse. What else to say.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE YOUR TRIPS MORE ECOLOGICAL?

In my own small way, I always try to make my trips eco-friendly. As? They are small gestures that make the difference, like trying to throw waste in the right recycling container.

Avoiding eating in the fast food restaurants of large catering companies, looking for small village taverns where you can taste local zero-mile products. Always carrying a bag with me, shopping bags and avoiding disposable ones. Always using public transport or renting bicycles where possible.

After all, the topic of ecology has been much discussed in recent years and climate change and also the coronavirus pandemic are warning us of something that can happen. Having never been just a simple indifferent observer, remaining on topic, I would conclude with the words of Pope Francis:

"Lord, your Word this evening affects us and concerns us, all of us. In this world of ours, which You love more than us, we have moved forward at full speed, feeling strong and capable of everything. Greedy for profit, we have allowed ourselves to be absorbed by things and dazed by haste. We have not stopped in front of your calls, we have not awakened in the face of planetary wars and injustices, we have not listened to the cry of the poor, and of our seriously ill planet. We have continued undaunted, thinking of staying always healthy in a sick world”.
