IN ONE OF YOUR ARTICLES YOU TALK ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRAVEL AND HOLIDAY. COULD YOU EXPLAIN IT BRIEFLY?

First of all let me introduce myself.
I am Emanuela Amighetti, author of the travel blog TRIPINWORLD and since 2016 I have left my certainties in Italy to pursue my passion: that of travelling.
In the same year I began to live in Zanzibar for many months.

I am not a "bag on my back" traveller, I have never disdained comforts even during my stays, but I have always been an adaptable and very curious person. This curiosity of mine is filled only when I try to immerse myself in the daily life of another culture and when I have the opportunity to enjoy the views that the nature of this world offers.

Here: for me this is precisely the difference between travel and holiday.
A holiday is pre-packaged, you reach a location almost exclusively to spend a few days, filling them with relaxation and comfort, taking a look at what's around you, exploring circuits already known and traced by those who organize them.

In fact, the experiences given by the holiday do not lead you to relate to and truly understand the reality that surrounds you.
A journey is different: it's not just comfort and relaxation, it's getting to know everything around you, wandering and listening only to your desire for discovery.
This leads you to relate to the population, to venture onto unknown and often uncomfortable paths, but which give you the pleasure of finding yourself faced with something that had never been foreseen in your imagination.

YOU HAVE VISITED SEVERAL PLACES IN AFRICA. WHAT DRIVES YOU TOWARDS THIS CONTINENT?

We often hear about Africa sickness… I don't have this "disease", I'm sick of the Indian Ocean!
At the moment, I have only found the colors and multiple shades that water can present in the countries that overlook this ocean.

This was perhaps the main reason that pushed me to spend many months in Zanzibar. Only in front of those wonderful colors, I can find a well-being that is difficult for me to explain… I'm enchanted!

About Africa, I appreciate the fact that you are constantly surrounded by nature: very tall palm trees, immense territories rich in flora and fauna and amazing views.
However, Africa is only a first stop on my travels.

There are natural paradises all over the world, I'm just waiting for the possibility of taking trips to all the other continents too.
I have begun to explore Asia, with trips to the Emirates and Sri Lanka, but I am also planning to visit many other places on this continent, which, in addition to incredible nature, can offer me a historical heritage.

SOLO TRIPS: WHICH TRIP MADE YOU UNDERSTAND THAT YOU COULD DO IT ALONE?

I love company, even during a trip, but being a person who loves to continually discover, it has always been difficult to find someone among my acquaintances who considered the holiday a "tour de force".

I started traveling alone on short Italian and European trips, when I realized that I wanted to visit a certain place at all costs, gleaning every little thing from it, and I couldn't find anyone willing to conceive the trip the way I wanted it. Traveling has a significant cost, and spending money to spend time without filling my curiosity was not acceptable to me.

Add to all this that I have always been a very independent person, but actually, after the first steps, you realize that not only can you rely on yourself, but that you also have the ability to relate to anyone, anywhere in the world, in order to solve the problems that travel can present you.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE YOUR LIFE GREENER?

I get very angry when I see people or tourists throwing rubbish on the roadsides! Seriously; living in Zanzibar, I am constantly surrounded by the problem of plastic waste; everything is abandoned in the forests or in areas near homes. In African countries there is no collection system, the populations throw everything left over outside their homes, burning it when it becomes too bulky.
But only by experiencing the sea can you understand the amount of rubbish it contains and which periodically deposits on the beaches. I often enjoy collecting all the plastic I find, trying to encourage the population to do the same, but the problem is that you find yourself not knowing where to dispose of everything that consumerism has produced. In addition to this, I pay a lot of attention to water consumption, a primary good in these countries, and when I travel I use a little’ public transport is everywhere (which also gives me the pleasure of discovering the population).
