I want Barbie back
Erica and Fabio between a trip and a coffee

Travel, exploration but not only outside, also inside us and inside our DNA. I want Barbie back is Erica and Fabio's blog, between a trip and a coffee.

AFTER WHICH TRIP DID YOU DECIDE TO OPEN A BLOG?

To tell the truth, the decision to open the blog was not born following a particular trip, but rather a sudden decision made during the Christmas holidays in 2015. I realized that I liked writing and that I wanted to share stories of normal everyday life with other people. Only the following year did it turn into travel blog, aware of the fact that we traveled a lot and that we could help many travelers to better organize their holidays and trips. If we had to choose one that sparked it all, we would choose our on-the-road one in Scotland.

SINCE YOU ARE A COFFEE ADDICT, HOW DO YOU FEEL WITH COFFEE ABROAD?

We have noticed a certain (positive) evolution over time. If 10 years ago we even preferred to do without coffee because the quality was often poor (with consequent withdrawal symptoms), today we must admit that it is decidedly easier to find good coffee around the world.
We never give up trying local coffee and we have transformed this passion of ours into a sort of competition: we have drawn up a personal ranking and every time we try a new coffee we change it.
Our current life is an exception expat in Andalusia: we found a place for mocha and a few packets of coffee in our suitcase (it's fine to try local coffees but ours can't be beat!).

WE SAW THAT YOU HAD THE DNA TEST! CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE RESULTS AND HOW YOU REACTED?

Taking the DNA test was quite fun and the results were amazing! I don't deny that I (Erica) would have liked to discover some links with the Anglo-Saxon countries, but instead the Greek component had the upper hand (although I have no idea why). Fabio, on the contrary, has a strong Italian component, which did not surprise him at all. What intrigued us most was finding information on the various ones “strains” detected and interrogate, in perfect FBI style, our respective families to discover any hidden altars…

WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE YOUR TRIPS MORE ECOLOGICAL?

Although it is inevitable to pollute when traveling, let's try – in our small way – to cause the least possible impact: the use of plastic is reduced to a minimum also thanks to the use of water bottles, water purifiers and organizer for reusable suitcases; we prefer, when possible, structures eco-friendly and restaurants that use local products, as well as often frequenting the markets to purchase directly from the producers. We also choose body care products that involve minimal packaging. The next objective is to increase the use of clothing with eco-sustainable fibres.
