We are Silvia and Michele, life and travel companions, both born in Verona and purebred Veronese.
We thought about creating this Destination Blog (in reality Silvia is the creator of everything) for the place where we live: this blog tells about the places, the traditions, the particularities of the area and the gastronomic specialties.
The purpose of our blog is to help tourists and those who want to visit and explore Verona to explore it better, find the most hidden and fascinating sides of Verona, different panoramic views and give advice on walking itineraries.
Silvia decided to "rediscover" her beloved city from a different perspective and this is why she decided to create this unusual blog, in such a way as to show Verona from a different perspective and not according to the usual canons dictated by other sources of information.
Michele agreed to collaborate on the creation of the blog and also enjoys being a tourist in his own home and exploring it better as he had never done before.

The article "Hidden and unknown corners of Verona" aims to raise awareness of those areas and details of Verona that are "less touristy" and indeed unknown to most people.
For example, Via Sottoriva or Piazzetta Pescheria which are central, are not well known to mass tourism and is a way to show - in the eyes of the tourist - the places as if they were from Verona.
On a culinary level, how does Verona stand out?
Verona is rich in culinary traditions, below is a list:
- To enjoy risotto with Amarone, risotto with Tastasal or in the Isolana variant, risotto with red radicchio from Verona;
- Absolutely worth tasting is the Bollito con la Pearà (it is a typical Veronese dish of the winter season, it is prepared with beef accompanied by a sauce based on grated bread, parmesan, marrow, broth and plenty of black pepper);
- Potato Gnocchi are a typical dish of the Veronese Carnival, they date back to the mid-1500s (to be tasted with tomato or with melted butter and sugar/cinnamon);
- Tortellini di Valeggio or Nodi d'Amore are made with a stretched dough as thin as silk, cut and knotted like a handkerchief, after having enriched it with a delicate filling based on various meats and vegetables.
- Traditionally, Pastisada de Caval was prepared, a dish based on braised horse meat, highly flavored and often accompanied with polenta.
- Renga, i.e. herring which was prepared mainly during Lent, is now prepared all year round and Bigoli which are "spaghetti" made of fresh egg pasta and are served with meat sauce or sardines.
Don't miss a visit to the Antica Bottega del vino, as it is the oldest tavern in Verona.
In the bars and pastry shops you can taste the typical desserts of Verona, such as Pandoro and Nadalin (star-shaped, low and glazed) during the Christmas period, Russian Cake and Fried Cream during the Carnival period.
Verona is rightfully among the 10 world wine capitals: there are excellent DOC wines, such as Valpolicella, Recioto, Soave, Bardolino and Amarone, just to name the best known.
The most famous attractions of Verona are known throughout the world and attract many tourists. We can't help but talk about it, the microphone is yours!

Verona is the city of love between Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montecchi, the best-known loving couple in the world, taken from the famous Shakespearean tragedy in which it became the symbol of love.
It is the perfect city for a small romantic getaway for lovers.
Not only is it the city of love but it is also the city of the Opera and Theater Festival (especially for the Veronese Theatrical Summer, with operas in the Arena and at the Roman Theatre), as well as of Wine (especially when the Vinitaly fair is held).
Piazza Erbe and Piazza San Zeno are lived in by the Veronese and you can breathe the so-called "Veronesità", that is, the Veronese way of life.
The Colle di Castel San Pietro, the Torre dei Lamberti and the Sanctuary of the Madonna of Lourdes offer a panoramic view of the city.
Since 2000 Verona has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site for its art, its architecture and its urban structure, “excellent example of a fortified city”.
Finally, we must also consider the surroundings of Verona, such as Lake Garda, the Valpolicella area (don't miss San Giorgio di Valpolicella, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy), Lessinia which is the mountainous area behind the city, eastern Verona which includes beautiful villages such as, for example, Soave and to the south of Lake Garda there is Borghetto di Valeggio sul Mincio which is also part of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Compared to other activities, tourism can have a truly considerable impact on sustainable development, both due to the size of the phenomenon and the special relationship that tourism has with the environment and society.
So we are happy to actively contribute to the Easy Travel Hosting project regarding reforestation with the planting of new trees, adopting our tree in Guatemala – Finca Ixobel.
