Hi Easy Travel Hosting, thanks for the invitation! It's a pleasure to be here.
We are Sabrina and Marco, the names and faces of the people behind them Finally Friday; a travel blog for couples, born from the irrepressible desire to leave which only increases as the weekend approaches, with a prevailing focus on trips out of town, weekends and road itineraries in Italy and the rest of Europe.
Finally Friday is an adventure born a bit for fun at the end of 2016 as a historical and photographic memory of our travels; which over time has grown with us, becoming a virtual space in which we share truly lived experiences. We talk about places and destinations and develop itineraries that those who follow us can replicate or use as a basis to build personalized ones, but we also give practical advice and (hopefully) useful information.
In everyday life, before being two part-time travellers, we are a couple. We've been together since 2015 but we've known each other since elementary school! Marco is an engineer, while I deal with marketing and communications. And when we're not traveling or working, we're two normal guys who have recently set up home; I like reading, writing, going to exhibitions and museums and watching TV series; while Marco is passionate about technology, photography and video games.
In your blog you have an extensive part that covers our beautiful Italy. Why the choice to prefer our country, when nowadays it is possible to travel abroad easily thanks to the many low-cost flights?
Italy is our main source of inspiration!
Finally Friday was born from the desire to combine the passion for travel with a full-time job full of commitments and deadlines but also from the belief that traveling doesn't just mean getting on a plane and flying far away. Traveling for us also and above all means exploring our territory, from the closest areas of Tuscany to the rest of the Bel Paese; to cross borders by car or on short plane trips to European countries.
Our niche is local travel, destinations that are easy to reach with short journeys (by car, train and plane), and the message we try to send is that there are many destinations to discover and it is not always necessary to fly to the other part of the world to be able to say you have travelled.
Let's leave Italy now, could you tell us about your trip to Slovenia?
Slovenia is one of the European countries that fascinated us the most! And which immediately intrigued the public of our Community ☺
Slovenia was a discovery. A border destination, chosen almost by chance, at the last minute, in the middle of summer (it was 2018), because it was logistically easy to reach by car, soon turned into a unique experience that allowed us to wander between different natural environments in the space of a week and to easily combine different interests: the sea of Piran and Portorož, in Slovenian Istria, the lakes of Bled and Bohjini, the mines of Idrija, the caves of Predjama and Postumia. Without forgetting the capital, Ljubljana, which we visited through the eyes of a local guide through the Free Tour experience.
Furthermore, not everyone knows that Slovenia is a very green country. One of the most sustainable countries of the Old Continent, for years at the top of the ranking of the most livable and safest states in the world. An aspect not to be underestimated, for a human-scale destination easily reachable from Italy full of treasures to discover.
Instead, now tell us about France outside Paris!
France is a country that fascinates us greatly! We have several trips and itineraries in mind that we would like to organize to discover the wonders of Brittany and Normandy, the Loire Valley, Burgundy and Champagne.
For now, in addition to Paris, the romantic French capital, where we have been 3 times in recent years and to which we always return willingly, we visited Provence, in June 2019, with a seven-day on the road which touched on the wonderful flowering of lavender but also the wild side of the Camargue, the ocher quarries of Roussillon, the perched villages of Gordes and Les-Baux-de-Provence but also the Roman history of Arles and that of Popes of Avignon.
We passed through a great variety of natural landscapes – some of which were painted on canvas by painters such as Van Gogh, Gaugain, Picasso, Chagalle – and learned about a fascinating chapter of history, art and architecture from the Romans to the present day. We came away enriched and can't wait to repeat the experience to include what we weren't able to see in a week, namely the Verdon Gorges!
As you know, Easy Travel Hosting uses renewable and eco-sustainable energy to power its servers. Furthermore, a tree is planted for each new hosting, actively helping reforestation and the absorption of CO2. What do you think of this project and in general, do you think it is important to seek a more sustainable lifestyle?
It is a very interesting project and we are pleased to have been chosen together with many other travel bloggers to participate in the broader reflection behind it.
Now we can no longer just talk about climate change, energy saving, eco sustainability, deforestation, good practices... We must act and inform ourselves! Everyone as they can, with their own means, their own choices and possibilities.
We always hear about the pollution of material things, less about the impact that intangible products such as the web and the internet have on the environment. We find it brilliant that a hosting service does this and adopts concrete solutions itself!
We are convinced that everyone's contribution is important, change comes from the awareness that everyone's daily choices have an impact on the environment. When we can, during our travels, we reach our destinations by public transport and once we arrive there we move mainly on foot; we are careful not to pollute and we support local communities with artisanal and zero-mile products.
The adoption of a more sustainable lifestyle is no longer a choice but a moral and civic duty and must progressively become an increasingly part of our lives.
