Travel, the real one, changes you and leaves something inside you that you can't explain except to yourself. Travel blog the west is where Fabio talks about this journey, made up of unique and authentic experiences.
Hi Fabio and welcome to Easy Travel Hosting! Backpack traveller, you don't compromise on comfort in order to live authentic life experiences. Can you tell us a little about yourself and when you decided to open your blog?
Convenience is absolutely not at home on my backpacking trips: I don't know hotels, taxis and restaurants; I sleep in hostels and makeshift camps, I am hosted by locals via the couch surfing application, I travel by public transport and I eat in neighborhood markets or local street food to help small businesses.
All this mix of sustainable actions and behaviors led me to open a blog that was created exclusively to give life to my future projects and trips with the aim of helping and giving advice to travelers on a limited budget who want to immerse themselves in the local culture and live everyday life at a slow pace.
In mine backpacking travel blog you will absolutely not find tourist guides, but off-the-map itineraries, sustainable paths and many day trips to do in our country.
Browsing your site you immediately notice that you move on routes that are not often found in other travel blogs. India, Jordan, Israel, Palestine. What are you looking for in these places?
They are not the usual "must-see destinations" but they are tours far from tourist itineraries because it is the only way to really understand where you are and who you are dealing with.
In this list you mentioned I would add Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia just to nostalgically remember my last backpacking trip in the Caucasus before the pandemic.
They are places that a normal travel enthusiast tourist does not include in his personal wish-list, unusual places to visit and explore but truly authentic, which still retain that charm of 30-40 years ago, where everything is as before and the people are adorable and hospitable, ready to welcome and help a traveler with a different culture.
I read that you like to eat at markets, street food and local restaurants. Could you tell us about some dishes that impressed you?
Another factor that completes my journey is the local food: during the day I waste hours wandering around the local markets between a fruit stand and a spice stand, in the street food streets to observe, understand and then taste the most amazing dishes in the world.
Seeing all those colors puts you in a good mood, we smell smells that are difficult to emit in our streets. I purchase spices and any object I may need to recreate a particular dish.
In India I was crazy about Samosa, an Indian street food snack that I found practically everywhere to satiate the empty stomach after long walks, a vegetarian snack made with simple products such as flour, water, oil and salt and filled with vegetables and spices.
In Georgia, however, I recommend Khachapuri, a must in Georgian traditions and in the streets of any city.
Sustainable travel, which respects the environment and community. This is your travel philosophy. Could you tell us about it?
It's my travel philosophy, whether it's in Italy or around the world, whether it's a trip of a day or a month, I try to make it a reason for living even in everyday life. I try to improve myself by living as sustainably as possible within due limits.
Each of us has the obligation to respect the environment and the cultures of the various peoples: on every trip we must learn to live like our hosts, respecting rules and traditions because only in this way will we be able to return home with a different spirit, ready for the next adventures.
