THE TRAVEL PHILOSOPHY OF
RAFFAELLA AND STEFANO
A decision made overnight, that of becoming vegan without going through the intermediate step of vegetarianism, and a great passion for travel. Traveling Vegan is the blog where Raffaela and Stefano talk to us about their travel and life philosophy.
Welcome to Easy Travel Hosting! Traveling Vegan, a site that contains a philosophy of travel and life. Would you tell us about when you decided to become vegan and how your site was born?
Hello and thank you for hosting us in this space.
Raffaella: We became vegans 9 December of 2013. We remember the exact date because it was a decision made literally overnight, without even going through vegetarianism.
The night before we had watched a video on intensive farms and so impressed us that we decided not to eat any animal anymore and not even their derivatives. Stefano, who was a "carnivore", It had given three months of trial, But it hasn't gone back. It was actually less difficult than we thought, Although eight years ago the Vegan Culture was less widespread and the choice of very limited vegan products.
The idea of the blog had been blending in my head for a long time. I have always had a great passion for travel, During which I kept a diary and took a lot of photos.
Often friends told me to share our adventures and so, During last year's Lockdown, our blog has finally come to light viaggiarevegan.it
As well as talking about our travels, we also try to give advice on where to eat vegan, as we know from first-hand experience how difficult it can be in some places.
In the blog there is also a section dedicated to recipes for vegan dishes from various continents, so everyone can bring a piece of the world to their table.

A huge curiosity, we read that Raffaella loves to sing but given the different musical tastes, Stefano isn't too enthusiastic about it! What are your different tastes and how does music influence your travels and your life?
Stefano: To give an idea of how different our musical tastes are, suffice it to say that I like rock, in particolare hard rock ed heavy metal, Raffaella, on the other hand, especially loves listening to Ludovico Einaudi.
For me music has great importance: I'm always looking for new stimuli, I buy a lot of records and my life is marked by music. I can remember the years of publication of many songs because I associate them with certain episodes I experienced.
Raffaella, on the other hand, listens to music above all to relax, while driving or writing.
When we go on a trip on the road we always carry a playlist with us, which then becomes the soundtrack of that journey. In this way, even after years, listening to certain songs brings back vivid memories of moments experienced around the world!

A country that fascinates us a lot is Georgia, could you tell us about your journey in this land?
Stefano: The last trip before the pandemic took us to discover the countries of the Caucasus: Azerbaijan, Armenia e Georgia.
Georgia has an incredible cultural heritage, artistic and architectural, but it also offers wonderful and varied landscapes. From the hills where excellent wines are produced to the high peaks of the Caucasus and the beaches of the Black Sea, this country fascinated us with its splendid monasteries, the castles rich in history, the characteristics of the city and its capital, Tbilisi.
A place that really impressed us was the Gergeti Trinity Church, built in 2170 meters and behind which Mount Kazbek stands out (5.047 m.), one of the highest in the Caucasus chain.

Being vegans that effective ecological impact has and what has influenced the choice of your destinations?
Raffaella: Our choice of being vegan is based on mainly ethical reasons. We do not tolerate that animals should suffer and die for us. We also know that intensive farms are one of the main causes of pollution.
Of course, over the years the awareness of the impact of all our life choices on the environment has increased, impact that we try to reduce as much as possible. Even if we cannot give up on plane trips (But we recently purchased an old camper that we called Alfio and who accompanied us and will accompany us in many adventures), We try to reduce the consumption of plastic using the bottles (where possible), solid soaps and shampoos, biodegradable make-up remover pads etc…
Naturally also when choosing hosting for the blog, the ecological component played a fundamental role. We ourselves were surprised to discover how polluting the web is and that's why we chose it Easy Hosting Travel, whose philosophy is very similar to ours.
As regards the choice of destinations for our trips, has never been influenced by our being vegan. We must say, however, that we are not "extremist" vegans when traveling. Especially in certain countries, where linguistic difficulties are considerable and vegan culture is not very developed, we are a little less rigorous.
This means that, despite no longer being able to eat meat and fish, maybe we don't ask ourselves if a dish is cooked with oil or butter. I remember once in Tajikistan, in a remote and tiny village reachable only after hours of trekking, the family that hosted us, she made some eggs and we ate them, also because in our opinion it would have been unethical to refuse.
