I give you the shot
Open doors for Cristina and Marcello

In Bologna giving "the shot" means opening the door of the house. I give you the shot Cristina and Marcello want to open up and share their travels, trying to make you fall in love with the places where their adventures go .

THE NAME OF YOUR BLOG IS "I GIVE YOU THE SHOT". COULD YOU EXPLAIN THIS FUN WAY OF SAYING BOLOGNESE?

“Giving the shot” is a typical Bolognese expression and a very ancient saying, dates back to the 18th century. It is known that in the historic center of Bologna most of the buildings are built on top of a brick portico (they are so particular and beautiful that, a few weeks ago, they have been nominated as a UNESCO "world heritage site".). The pull is that mechanical command made up of ropes and chains, which allowed the door to be opened, placed under the porch, without leaving home.

Even today in Bologna it is possible to find a button with the word TIRO in the entrance halls of buildings, and it is the button used to open the door which is obviously electric today.

Because I thought of calling the blog that?

We have (I admit that it was a choice shared with my family) thought about “I'll give you the shot”, in the sense of “opening the door” that is, sharing emotions, the experiences of the trips that my husband and I take together.

WHICH JOURNEY HAS SNAPPED YOUR HEART?

Marcello and I have been traveling together for more than 30 years, we started before starting a family, then with the arrival of our children we started traveling in a camper, a perfect way to discover Italy and Europe even with small children.

Now our children are grown up and we have begun to travel by plane more and more often, discovering distant places, destinations you have dreamed of for a long time.
It's really difficult to say which journey captured our hearts, in one way or another every trip leaves us with a special memory, or for the nature that characterized the place, such as the great parks of the American West, or the cherry blossoms in Tokyo as well as the boundless territories of northern Europe (Norway, Scotland and Ireland), where the passages truly leave you speechless.

But in particular it was exciting to visit the Sahara desert in Libya in 2000, where we spent 5 days traveling along the sand dunes on board a jeep and sleeping in a tent under the starry sky.

WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST ABOUT TRAVEL WHEN YOU ARE AT HOME?

Traveling opens the mind, it gives the opportunity to have new experiences, meet different people taste particular foods, learn the customs and traditions of many peoples, visit many monuments and, in a certain way also "seeing history".

This is what we look for when we travel, although I admit that when we are at home we still manage to find ways to discover new places, close to home that allow us to feel "on holiday".

What do you do to make your travels more ecological?

Good question!

Surely, When we are traveling, we continue to respect the habits we have at home as for example to make separate collection or save on water consumption.

Nowadays it is possible to consume less card using apps by avoiding printing reservations. Also when we visit the cities we walk a lot on foot (It is the best way to discover special and hidden views) or we use public transport.
