A mother in a camper

Travel around but always have your home with you, a freedom and comfort that are priceless. Today Valentina talks to us about her travels with her family, which he collects in his blog A Mom in a Camper

Welcome to Easy Travel hosting! When you decided to take the step of buying a camper and what life is like as a camper in a mum?

The purchase of the camper was a family choice, together with my husband we had this desire to travel with as much freedom as possible.

We started approaching the world of campers in 2014, starting to go and see some used vehicles and evaluate the prices.

In March of 2015 we finally found our first camper, It was a used and old vehicle but it was fine for us to try, in fact we had all our first experiences with him, we liked it so much that in 2019 we decided to take a slightly newer vehicle that was better suited to our needs.

For a mother, second me, the camper is the most comfortable thing there is for travelling: first of all you have no timetable and you can manage the children's rhythms in complete freedom (even in traffic or while traveling, you can stop anywhere if the kids are hungry or need to use the bathroom).

Plus you have your own home wherever you go, so you don't have to unload huge suitcases and you always have everything at hand and you don't have to book anything months in advance, you can decide at the last minute whether to leave or stay at home, whether to go to the seaside or to the mountains, at the lake or in the city. And then the children really like the traveling house which leads them to always discover new places.

The furthest trip you've ever taken in a camper, with positive and negative sides, could you tell us about it?

For the moment our furthest trip from home has been a tour of Spain, that we did in the summer of 2019, which took us to Granada, passing through Barcelona, Valencia and other small intermediate stages.

We've been away 20 days and it was a journey truly rich in history, culture, sea and typical cuisine. We saw wonderful places and breathed a culture different from ours, saw architectural works that gave us goosebumps and met friends along the way.

Unfortunately I can't find fault with all of this, the only flaw, If we want to find it, it was that in the middle of the trip our youngest son fell ill and we had to give up a day of tourism to let it rest, But this when traveling with children can always happen.

Have you ever thought of abandoning everything and living full time in camper?

For now no, with children who are now becoming boys (they have 12 and almost 10 years) Living permanently in a camper would not be possible for us. The camper for us is freedom, move often and always see new places. The boys, on the other hand, have schools and extra-school activities to which they care a lot and it is right that we have a stability for now.

But when they are larger and more autonomous, I see myself spending more time in camper than at home!!!!

What do you do to make your travels more ecological?

Our trips are often in search of contact with nature, we are mountain lovers and increasingly seek refuge among its woods and peaks.

We are quite attentive to the ecological side of our trips, like at home, even in the camper we use ecological detergents and do separate waste collection, even at the cost of taking the waste home with us. We discharge the waste water from the camper only in places authorized for waste water recovery.

When we arrive at one of our stops we try to move as little as possible with the camper, preferring to travel on foot, by bicycle or public transport.
