For Simona everything started after her first trip to the States in 2008. Since then she has gone there at least once a year and has thus managed to visit the major cities and states of America. Io (Dome) Instead, I have always had a visceral passion for America, but before meeting Simo I had never managed to go there personally.
Growing up with Hollywood and its myth, I have always dreamed of being able to see in person what I admired on TV or at the cinema. My first time was indeed, not by chance, in California in September 2018 and since then I have returned twice more. And every time we return the first thing we think is where and when we can return.
I READ THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO TRY TO MOVE TO AMERICA. WHICH CITY WOULD YOU CHOOSE?
Io(Simo) I have some options: vegas, Chicago and Key West are on the podium. Las Vegas for its strategic location at maximum 5 hours from the California coast or parks, for the almost always warm climate and because I consider it like a second home. Chicago because it's my favorite city ever, even if the cold climate in winter would put me in a bit of difficulty. Key West because it is warm all year round, it is less chaotic than Miami and more within reach of my needs.
If there was the possibility of having a ranch, any boundless prairie in Wyoming or even Texas would be a dream., but Dome cannot live without the sea nearby and therefore this choice would be the most difficult to make. In fact, he would like to live in California because he has always been in love with it since he was a child and during our trip to 2018 he had confirmation of this. She loves Malibu but also San Diego, I came to Los Angeles, but with much less chaos and beautiful beaches. After the last trip to Florida he started to change his mind about this state too, if he doesn't think about the danger of hurricanes... so who knows... for the moment we would like to have the concrete opportunity to move to the States... where he will come next...
YOU HAVE OTHER TRIPS PLANNING BESIDES THOSE IN THE STATES?
Definitely yes. In addition to the 3 travels together in the States in the last two years we have started to explore Europe and we want to continue doing so, possibly in on the road mode so as not to limit ourselves to a single city. We definitely want to start exploring Asia then , Japan, Nepal and Thailand are among the destinations that fascinate us most, also because we have connections that would allow us to live them to the fullest.
Unfortunately, in this period we cannot make long-term plans and it is easier for us to organize a trip, even at the last moment, in the States since I know them quite well by now. In fact, I already have itineraries designed for destinations that I haven't seen yet ( like Yellowstone which is still a big dream of mine). We therefore see organizing a trip to some European city or capital or to the States as much more feasible in the near future. For other destinations, we will definitely visit them but we need a little more time to organize everything.
What do you do to make your travels more ecological?
As we often travel on the road, unfortunately we cannot limit the use of the car, However, in big cities we prefer to travel by public transport or even better on foot, also thanks to the parking nightmare, limited and expensive, so we take advantage of early bird rates and then walk all day.
We then try to limit waste as much as possible, we use bathroom kits provided by the various hotels, and we bring reusable containers with us to reduce plastic consumption and if we stay in an accommodation for a few days we avoid requesting daily room cleaning service.
We like to bring home many souvenirs but we avoid unnecessary packaging and especially receipt printing, which fortunately in the United States is now often replaced by an email.
