Welcome to Easy Travel hosting! You can tell us a little about yourself, ABOUT YOUR BLOG AND YOUR PASSION FOR INDIA?

My name is Manuela and I am a traveler by passion and profession and author of the Project India magazine.

The curiosity to discover the world and learn about other cultures and remote places has always distinguished me from a young age, and it has evolved over the years into something deeper.

I wanted to connect with people on a different level, experience what it means to live in these places that I love, assimilating the local etiquette, The lifestyle of a daily life so different from mine.

From shopping to the market and cooking typical local dishes, to entertaining relationships with my new friends without risking offending them accidentally with behaviors that, For my culture, they are courtesy but not in theirs, breathe an atmosphere different from that of the house, sometimes even far from my comfort zone.

Today I am the person who are largely thanks to these life experiences, who allowed me to expand my views, overcome my fears and limits, and consequently my vision of things has also changed.

I managed to make my passion my job, In fact, I have been working in tourism for twenty years. I first opened my travel agency, then I took care of the planning of various destinations for a tour operator, and now I personally manage a tour operator www.enjoydestinations.it which gives me great satisfaction.

Project India was born from the desire not to contaminate my love for India with work. I hope you understand from each of my articles that I love every possible and imaginable form of this culture and its people, but work often tends to submerge and flatten everything. It all boils down to purely technical aspects, that is, whether the hotels are more or less central, if there is wifi, or how many steps the room is from the sea.

I'll try to explain myself better.
A few years ago I sent clients to stay in a wonderful royal palace, with an architecture from a thousand and one nights, where the furniture and each present object are a work of art.

The Maharaja who deals with his management with great care is still today, A wonderful person who thanks to this work hotel for people from the whole village and with the earning of this Heritage Hotel managed to build the only school in the country. Those who stay in this building have the opportunity to contribute to all this.

Has the opportunity to live a unique culinary experience, where it is possible to participate in cooking lessons directly from the Maharaja private chef, Visit the local village completely outside the tourist routes, with its characteristic market and a temple just outside the town which is still one of those magical places that I keep most jealously in my heart.

Not to mention the numerous boat excursions that can be done on the river to admire the local flora and fauna. My clients complained that they had nothing to do, They didn't have a television in their room and they were bored.
My experience is different.

I still remember when some women approached me in a temple, they made me sit on the ground with them to ask me where I was from, if I was married, how old was I, they wanted to know everything about me.

When they learned that a 40 years I was married but I had no children, and examining me they saw that I was not wearing any jewellery, ( I don't have many actually, I spend all my money on travel and don't wear any out of respect for the countries I visit, but in India it is customary for a woman to have a dowry in jewels ), they therefore thought that I was poor and probably unlucky because I had not been blessed with the arrival of a child.

They welcomed me as one of their own, who took me by the hand, who patted me on the back, who caressed me, some with a very intense look, all in their own way, even those who didn't speak English, it gave me a feeling of love, sharing, such intense complicity and acceptance… I had never felt something like this in my entire life.

They invited me to their home to offer me a hot meal and introduce me to their family. I cried, and every time I think about it I can't hold back the tears.

Project India is dedicated to all those who are moved by people's smiles, who believe that our culture doesn't have to be better than others, to those like me who are amazed at how most illnesses can be cured with medicinal herbs alone, and for those who are still able to marvel at the beauties of nature, for all those who want to deepen their knowledge of a friendly people, generous and anchored in human values now forgotten by Western culture.

IN YOUR BLOG YOU HAVE A SECTION DEDICATED TO WELL-BEING AND AYURVEDA. HOW DID YOU APPROACH THEM AND WHAT ROLE THEY HAVE IN YOUR LIFE?

I have always had a predisposition for oriental medicines, I am also a small sorcerer, To understand each other I do the detergent for the washing machine at home, for the dishwasher, shill, softener, shampoo, shower gel, Various creams and medicines, You can imagine what the enormous variety of medical herbs of this continent and Ayurvedic medicine represented me for someone like me.

The passion turned into true unconditional love when I happened to be a bad outlet to the skin. I went to the dermatologist in Italy who diagnosed me psoriasis, I had never suffered in the past.

I scrupulously followed the indications of the dermatologist who prescribed me a cortisone ointment. During the treatment I was healed completely, but then when the effect wore off the outburst came back more important and extensive than before.

The cortisone had only made it worse. It was in the back of my head, so I got a prescription first from the doctor and then from the pharmacist, various types of lotions, shampoo e vari medicamenti, but without obtaining any results.

At a certain point the hairdresser warned me that the hair on most of my head was no longer growing back., they had become too fine, and he predicted that they would soon fall without having the opportunity to grow again.

It was also appearing in other parts of the body, especially in the hands, preventing me from being able to live a normal life.

On one of my trips to India I took the time to consult a doctor, who gave me a neem-based soap and prepared a lotion by simmering an incredible variety of spices and herbs for a whole night, the names of which he did not want to reveal to me.

I immediately noticed the benefits and the now unexpected relief. Of course it was an emergency remedy, because the problem comes from within, and I was aware that Ayurvedic medicine does not cure the problem where it occurred, to heal permanently it is essential to treat the whole body.

So as soon as I had the opportunity I decided to check myself into an Ayurvedic clinic in Kerala, in southern India, the homeland of this ancient medicine.

Two doctors examined me thoroughly, they did blood tests and had me fill them out 12 pages of questionnaire, where they asked me all about me. Which diseases I had had in my childhood, How is my digestion and ease to go to the bathroom, They asked me for my parents and their diseases, deficiencies or predispositions.

They also deepened the emotional aspect, They asked me that dreams I did at night and if I remembered them and what time I dream normally, if I am optimistic or pessimistic, and many other things like these.

From the dermatologist in Italy everything had taken place in about 5 minutes, with the doctor who raised my hair, He gave a distracted look and prescribed the ointment, so you will understand me if I was stingy to say the least.

Then they highlighted other problems I had and that they had not been diagnosed in Italy, Some also important and which began to cure together with psoriasis.

I prescribed the therapies I had to follow and I was assigned to two therapists who treated me every day for two hours.

But before the daily treatment I still had a consultation with the two doctors who had visited me the first time, who measured me the pressure, They asked me questions about my health, appetite, digestion and monitored progress.

On the basis of these visits, the treatments of the day were prescribed.
The treatments were naturally diving in oils and herbs made to macerate at the moment. In addition, I was prescribed drugs to be taken by mouth, a specific ointment and diet, where I had no choice.

I can be honest? It was hell. Do not think of massages with fragrant oils or cuddles of wellness center. I suffered hunger, I didn't stand even standing from the exhaustion, I was bad and the ointments I had to put burned to the point that it seemed to me that I was staying in alive meat.

Then after just 4 days of care I was completely healed in every part of the body. My skin was soft as never before. Of course I completed the therapy and continue home care for 3 months.

Years have passed and I'm still fine, and the feeling of well -being that I tried later has widely rewarded me of the efforts.

Since then I never left Ayurvedic medicine again, The only one who healed me definitively and I decided to share this experience, so that others could benefit from it.

Outside of India, What is another country that kidnapped your heart?

Portugal. Very different from India I know, But the world is beautiful because it is varied. I have a house owned in Algarve, On the border with Spain and I live most of the year, Or rather I live in Portugal when I'm not in India.

Although life in Portugal may not seem very different from the life that I lead in northern Italy. The climate is enviable all year round, In summer the air conditioner is not needed and in winter the heating is not needed.

I have the sea a few minutes walk from home, The hills a few minutes by bicycle, with ancient windmills, Saline with pink flamingos and storks, postcard villages, but also historical cities with a vibrant cultural proposal, artistic and fun.

A thousand opportunities to attend interesting musical concerts, Art exhibitions and at the same time I have Spain five minutes by car that reveals a world very different from Portugal.

Carvoeiro - Portugal

What do you do to make your life more ecological?

I am very attentive to ecology in my little one. I choose to buy only foods mostly at zero km. I buy the flour on the mill, that I use to prepare almost everything at home, pasta, pane, Biscuits for breakfast and desserts.

I also produce all the detergents in the house, both for the person and for the cleaning of the house, Using only natural ingredients. Moreover, they are giving me a lot of satisfaction, In particular, the detergent for the washing machine, that leaves the clothes soft and well stained, without affecting colors or white.

I noticed that those who like me embark on this path can hardly be able to react to the supermarket detergents.
Living for the most of the time in Portugal I can not use winter heating and the summer air conditioner.

I use the bicycle a lot and very little the car, and living in a country where it rains a few days a year, I learned to respect and save the water, Sometimes recycling it.
