WHAT WAS THE MOST EXCITING BICYCLE TRIP YOU HAVE TAKEN?
Every bicycle trip has its own particular story and it is difficult to choose! But if I think back to the trip I took in August of 2018 from my home in Paris, perhaps it was one of the most exciting experiences of my life.
I visited beautiful cities: Lantern, Stone on the Rhine, Basel, Colmar, Strasbourg, Koblenz, Metz, Reims,…
And I cycled along unique routes: route du Vins, Rhine cycle path, Moselle cycle path, route you champagne,…
And while I am writing about these places I see them as if printed in my eyes. Because the beauty of traveling by bicycle is that it doesn't just allow you to visit places, but to travel them.
This was the exciting thing about this trip: travel beautiful places riding my trusty bicycle.
HAVE YOU EVER FOUND YOURSELF IN A COMPLICATED SITUATION THAT MADE YOU DOUBT ABOUT CONTINUING TRAVELING BY BIKE OR OTHERWISE PUT YOU TO A HARD TEST?
I find it difficult to find a complicated or difficult situation in my bicycle travel experience. One nice thing I've noticed when talking to other bike travelers is that we find it difficult to remember unpleasant episodes of the trip. Living on the streets we are used to accepting everything that happens to us as it comes.
If I really had to choose one, perhaps I would say when I risked breaking my chain in the middle of nowhere in Morocco! I broke one of the chain links, the sun had already set and I still had 20km to go in the middle of nowhere and uphill to get to Chefchaouen, the famous blue city in the High Atlas.
In short, It wasn't exactly a pleasant situation, but in the end I managed to reach my goal! This changed the way I organize the trip, always checking my means of transport carefully before leaving for an adventure on the road
WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE YOUR LIFE MORE ECOLOGICAL BESIDES RIDING BY BICYCLE?
I also like cycling because of the smaller impact on the environment. It's a small gesture that everyone who could would do it, our cities would certainly come out changed for the better!
I follow this philosophy when I try to live a more ecological life or do small things that we could all do, for example: save water when I shower or wash, do not turn on the lights if it is not essential, eat seasonal fruit and vegetables, buy unpackaged food whenever possible, use apps like “TooGoodToGo” to buy recycled food.
A small effort from everyone would be enough and I am convinced that with these small gestures the world can truly become a better place!
