FEDERICA
SYMBOLIC WEDDINGS
AND SPIRITUAL

Nature, spirituality, rites of passage and love. What do these things have in common? Today we chat with Federica who tells us about his activity as a Nature Wedding Planner.

Welcome to Easy Travel hosting! Could you tell us a little about yourself and how you approached symbolic weddings?

Hello to you, First of all, thank you for asking me to talk about one of my favorite topics: nature and our relationship with it.
I started my own business, the organization of symbolic and spiritual weddings in nature, In the 2018. First I did five years of university, economy, but I realized immediately after graduating that life in a big city and in a company just wasn't for me.

It's only been three years, but things have changed a lot. When I started, The world of weddings in Italy was still exclusively linked to old ideas: A wedding was the time to show off wealth, pomp and often it was time for waste.

If once the union was a rite of passage, Today it is no longer. Spouses often choose a standard ceremony, in common or in church, To celebrate something that is unique instead.

I chose to organize weddings in nature and of course the only option is symbolic weddings: In Italy unfortunately neither the most practiced religion nor the state conceive nature as a sacred place in which to celebrate marriage.

In ancient times all the important stages of a person's life were celebrated in contact with nature. The natural place therefore became part of the rites and protagonist as much as man. The Celtic tribes, for example, they were linked to natural places. a lake, a river, the mountain or a valley was thought to be inhabited by the spirits of the places, e, in many cases, by the spirits of the Ancestors of their tribe.

Nature thus became the common thread that linked the lives of individuals, between present and past. A way to feel intimately connected to the place to which one belonged and to the family. I chose to bring all this magic back into the world, to recreate an authentic relationship with nature, even during marriage, which thus regains the important meaning of the past.

A wedding in nature is therefore a rite of passage that marks the union between two people who consciously choose to share a moment of happiness and change with those they love.

For all these reasons, today I organize symbolic and spiritual weddings that have a great and important contact with nature. My love is also Celtic weddings, which combine all these aspects that I love so much.

What does a symbolic wedding consist of and who is it aimed at??

As I always say when they ask me this question, symbolic marriage is a means, lor tool through which people who love the couple, they witness the birth of the new family.

In ancient times the marriage ceremony served as a contract, but above all it was the way to be recognized as a couple by those who were part of the community. Its purpose today is exactly the same.

The symbolic wedding is a ceremony that does not have a fixed rite. It is based on the sacredness of a promise and is created by the spouses.
The spouses create their own ceremony with their own story, one's emotions and desires and symbols, there is no right or wrong ritual.

For me, marriage, symbolic or spiritual, it cannot be separated from the natural place, because I believe that sacred moments should all be experienced in nature. Unfortunately, Today this idea no longer exists and that's how it is, In my opinion, than marriage, like many other moments in life, they have lost their meaning.

This type of wedding is suitable for everyone, as long as you want a ritual that truly represents the sacred moment you are experiencing. If you prefer to simply sign a register and nature matters little, then perhaps it is better to opt for a common civil marriage, otherwise a symbolic wedding would lose all meaning.

Could you tell us about rites of passage?

Between end and beginning, between before and after, whether we are talking about our life or the cycle of Nature, there is a non-time, a moment that marks the transition, which is no longer but is not yet.

This is what I always say when people ask me what rites of passage are. It's a curious question, because in reality humans have always had rites that marked these important passages. Only in the modern world we forgot about it or we descended them.

Today we hardly hear about it anymore. It is not a common thing in the modern world to celebrate a stage of life with a real ritual that celebrates the moment. Of course there are still rites of passage today but not with the meaning they had once.

We can say that today they have lost all the symbolic value, ritual and magical they had and this is a huge shame because their lack deprives the life of an important part, fundamental I would say.

Right, There are still graduation parties, marriage, The visit of relatives for the newborn child, But these are not rites of passage, They are simply steps, that are celebrated, right, but without any sense of the sacred, without the natural connection they should have.

The festivals that once celebrated the changing of the seasons and which today have been almost entirely incorporated into the Christian religion are also a rite of passage., with very different meanings compared to the original ones. But it's not just Nature that changes, we do it too. In every person's life there are beginnings and endings, moments of transformation: childhood, adolescence, adulthood with the discovery of sexuality, marriage, motherhood e, Then, old age with its wisdom.

Tall these moments, a time, they were marked by celebrations and ceremonies: from rites of passage, which made us aware of being part of Nature.

This is why today, together with other people who feel the same thing, I try to recover this connection, re-proposing passage ceremonies that hark back to Celtic culture, that of the land in which I live: initiations for young people becoming adults, spiritual weddings, celebrations of important moments in everyone's life.

How the four elements are used in these ceremonies, they have a special role?

The elements have always been an important part of the life of us humans. The Celts once considered only three: water, air and earth. Today we see four of them, adding fire. Usually in our ceremonies the elements have great importance.

I cannot of course explain every ceremony and how the elements fit into them, but I can tell you in general about the elements and their meaning. Each element is, Indeed, linked to a certain sphere of meaning:

Air element: It is a male element. Represents vital energy and is associated with communication with oneself and with others, to sociability, to change, to flexibility, to lightness in things. It concerns all the faculties of the intellect and mind: the word, creativity, thought, art, music, imagination, singing, laughter, Mental fun, poetry and inspiration.

Fire element: It is a male element. Represents the action, the beginning of things, exuberant vitality. The qualities of courage are associated with it, strength, of passion and determination.

Water element: It is a female element. Represents the vital element from which everything is born, the womb, the source of nourishment and has always been the link with spirituality. The water is associated with flexibility, The emotions that flow, accommodation. It is the element of the internalization, which gives purification, movement, comprehension.

Earth element: It is a female element. Represents fertility, also creative, nourishment and for this reason it is linked to earthly things, to materiality. The qualities of strength are associated with it, constancy and patience and gives abundance material.

On the one hand, this world is drifting with exponential pollution, on the other it seems that there are many "Awakens ", people who actively, individual, They take initiatives to help the planet. What do you think of this movement?

I believe that, As always when it comes to humans, There will always be two factions: sometimes a way prevails, Other times in history, especially the ancient one, another prevailed.

Now we are in a moment of passage, in which the old way, made of exploitation, Started in our West Europe with the Roman and then Christian conquest, is starting to falter. Many people begin to wake up and understand that the way you live is not sustainable.

I don't think there will be a change of solid course shortly, States have other interests and money and power prevail over ethics. Furthermore, Comfort also likes too much to ordinary people and returning to the earth is now too tiring.

Nevertheless, many people, in their small, they start seeing new ways, new ideas to recover a relationship with nature that is healthy. I believe that every little act is not in vain, But we must not do it for the earth, because although it is right to love it and protect it, She knows how to protect and regenerate herself very well.

She is able to live without us and after us he will trim as he has always done. If we want to do something, We certainly do it only for ourselves, that without her we would all die.
