When you stop being tourists and start to be travelers?
There is no precise age, You can understand you are a traveler a 18 years, but also to remain tourist until you have the possibility and strength to travel. I had also talked about it in one of my posts (Click here to read). Personally, I believe that going from tourist to traveler is a long process, made of many trips but which starts since you start to see the destinations with a more critical eye.
Being critical does not necessarily mean seeing everything under the negative side - usually the word "criticism" is associated with the negative meaning of the meaning -. I think being critical means seeing the destinations both on the positive and negative sides, enhancing the cultural differences. I see it as a personal evolution.
I think I was a tourist until I went to the agency and I was organizing everything. Then the packaged holiday began to be tight, I needed to find out what was out there, Mix me with local people, Taste typical food and assimilate the culture of the place.
One day I happened to me in my hands the book of the one who considers the traveler par excellence, Tiziano Terzani. The reading of "A riddle told me" has opened me a new world and I understood how I wanted to travel. The "turning point" journey was the one in Florida in 2016. Here I organized everything myself from start to finish, bringing the family with a three -month -old child with me.
Madness for my parents, a life experience for us.

How the journey changes when you have a family?
Here Silvia enters the field, My travel and life partner. Traveling in pairs is much simpler, Just think of how you dress in a certain season and the game is done. But thinking for three or four people is much more complicated. You have to think about having an extra baggage and filling it with a thousand things for children. The clothing suitable for the place of the place, The spare clothes, the pajamas, shoes, games not to make them bored during a long flight. Thoughts increase if you travel with a newborn baby. You have to think about the pacifiers, to diapers, to the bottle and everything that follows. And then you have to take into account that there may always be unexpected events of health, and when you are abroad with children it should not be taken lightly. Nurofen for children and tachipirina never fail.
After the first daughter we also had to adapt our travel style to a new type of accommodation. First in two we traveled for villages and hotels. Now the hotels are only for short stays of one night. Most now we travel to apartments by booking on a well -known American website. This is because you do not always in the hotel you have the opportunity to heat some milk at 3 at night or go to another room if the child cries in the middle of the night.
L’ apartment gives us more flexibility even with schedules, especially when it comes to breakfast and dinner. In the end, fundamental thing, is that there is a washing machine and dryer to be able to wash and dry any dirty clothes, you are, It's common with children. Choosing a hotel and not finding a laundry would become a problem for us.

WHICH COUNTRY HAS KIDNAPPED YOUR HEART??
Canada. Every time I talk about it or hear it mentioned I get goosebumps. I was there a few years ago and the memory is still alive. I visited the east on a road trip 1800 km between buses, car and train. I found a country with wild nature and at the same time modern in the big cities, climatically cold in certain areas but with a warm and hospitable population. In particular, its wild side in the far east captivated me, the one driven from Quebec City to Tadoussac to see the whales. But also the surprising Quebec, with its historical side, and the very modern Toronto played a fundamental role.
A country that entices you to stay for its beauty, especially that of large parks. In fact I will return to see the west and the large parks like Banff.

What do you do to make your travels more ecological?
I believe that respect for the environment starts from an early age, this is why we educate our two children to respect the environment, both when we are at home and when we travel. We use our bottles and not the plastic ones. Just as we leave the places where we go as we found them. And we always try to use public transport such as the metro or trams rather than buses, in order to reduce the environmental impact.
