Hi everyone!
First of all, thank you for this opportunity. My name is Roberta and in life I am a structural engineer, who designs villas and cottages for very modest and unapproachable sums for me, while in my free time I love to draw, inspired by that time I never lived and now passed, which smells of antiquity, of Beatrice Potter.
From this passion of mine my project was born which I bring to Instagram as Rooob_art, born almost as if to redeem the many years of pencil and paper abandoned due to purely scientific studies.
Once I graduated from the Polytechnic of Turin, my boyfriend forced me to pick up the colors again, convinced that I was making a mistake in dedicating myself 100% to these studies and knowing how much I had actually dreamed of being an illustrator as a child.
I then started a drawing course in my country, which gave me the basics and then I deepened the watercolor technique thanks to Fantasvale's You Tube courses.
The rest is history.
Passion and dedication led me to study the world of Instagram better, convinced that without a good knowledge of the medium I would never have gotten far.
So, to answer your question, how do I make these 2 personalities of mine coexist, I can only admit the truth: impose a routine with very specific times. I am a collaborator at a design studio during the day, while at night I divide my time between family and drawing. It's not easy at all, I often admit that I can't do it.
However, when you then stop to observe how many steps you have already taken behind you, the motivation can only become even greater!

Daughter of a musician with a passion for drawing, my mother was convinced that I too had some form of art, some "gift" like my father!
So one day he forced me to copy the Tasmanian devil represented in a notebook and in rings. I still remember how many times I copied and tracopied that face, disappointed and angry because I couldn't do it and I didn't want to do it, but in the end my mother convinced me to concentrate, it stressed me out so much (as in all things, after all).
I only remember that at a certain point the sun had set and my father had come home. Then my mother, very proud of her daughter (or perhaps simply of the fact that she had succeeded in her stress-but-don't-give-up feat), showed my drawing to dad.
The compliments I received were so motivating that from then on I began to draw always and every day, until the last day of middle school, when I promised myself, wrongly, that I would never draw again until I finished my studies.

As I mentioned before, imposing a strict routine on myself during the week allows me to carve out some space for myself without feeling guilty.
From 9am to 6.30pm I am an engineer who swears at bricklayers and swears at his calculation models. In the evening we dedicate ourselves to the family and the house mascot, Shepherd Sophie, and finally, after dinner, when everyone goes to bed, half an hour of drawing.
It is not at all easy for me to reconcile everything, especially bringing more drawing to my social networks, because first of all I am a person, a person who loves his family and struggles to put them in second place. This perhaps remains a failure from a professional point of view.
If instead I were to tell you about a success, what I am most proud of is Autunno d'Artista, a challenge created in collaboration with other little people and which aims to unite different artistic figures around a single objective, that of having fun by networking!
It all started during a call with a friend, while we discussed plausible marketing ideas for her nascent brand, but then we lost sight of the objective of these ideas, which instead lent themselves to something bigger.
Thus was born the idea of surrounding ourselves with 3 other people to plan this challenge which will have its third edition in 2022!

I would suggest to her what I only wanted to hear in eighth grade, how all the teachers agreed on the fact that I should continue my studies in a scientific high school just because I excelled in mathematics... better yet, I would suggest to her what the middle school math teacher suggested to me, "never abandon your hand because if you do, you will then make terrible efforts before you manage to get it back. You will never lose it, but undoubtedly you will not train it. Above all, always start from what you like because that will be the driving force in your life”.
I didn't believe her then and I was wrong.

It is impossible not to observe how and to what extent climate change is changing our habits, starting with clothing, when on December 31st you find yourself having to wear a t-shirt and shorts in the mountains because it is 20 degrees in the shade.
In my own small way, I try every day to make more sustainable choices, and even now that I'm designing a site for myself, learning about a reality like yours intrigues me quite a bit!
We should all raise awareness and raise more awareness and I find how you are doing it to be the right way 🙂
