Ciao, I'm Claudia, I am Italian and I have lived in Dublin for three years. “The beautiful spoon” It is the name I gave to my adventure in the creation of natural soap. On my Instagram page I tell my journey in formulating a range of homemade soaps with products inspired by the world of cuisine.
I chose the spoon symbol (“spoon”) because it reminds me of the act of measuring the ingredients of a recipe in a simple and spontaneous way, The same kitchen ingredients that I turn into natural solid soap.
This is exactly the way I imagine my recipes: quite balanced to respond to “cosmetic formula” but also simple and intuitive to the point of allowing to add a personal touch.
As I started?
My story begins in Paris in 2016 dove, After a working experience in Product Developed & Marketing in a large company specialized in beauty products, I was passionate about DIY cosmetics. The beauty routine is an evolving journey made of discovery and adaptation. Your skin and hair adapt and react to both the external environment and your internal physiological balance.
In recent years I have lived in 3 different countries (Italia, France and Ireland), I changed 6 apartments, 4 works and, along the journey, My eating habits have evolved driven by my incessant curiosity for the discovery of new foods and local living .
Many times my skin and hair showed changes perhaps due to the atmosphere in the new city, perhaps to the changed hardness of the water or the degree of humidity of the air. Each of those times I found myself wondering what was not going and why that cream or that shampoo that I had used for months no longer seemed to be good as before. I wondered if I had become allergic to specific ingredients but, punctually, It was so difficult to identify them in the complicated labels of the products I purchased. One day a friend offered me a box with basic kits for shampoo and soap but I still found the too complicated creation process.
There was not enough space to express creativity and the ingredients seemed so elaborate and difficult to find locally. I started to imagine the possibility of creating beauty recipes that anyone who was able to make with the accessible ingredients that you find at home or in the local markets of your city. I wanted to contribute to a world in which the recipes of beauty products were simple to understand and transparent.
In the 2019, After moving to Dublin, ready to start again that adaptation process that I now knew well, I decided to transform my routine with natural products and made by me. I have so embarked on a mission: steal the kitchen ingredients and transform them into homemade beauty.
Thanks to a magical meeting in Ireland, I discovered cold saponification and immediately became my favorite product. Soap is a product that I find to be the most complete in the personal care field, A sort of cosmetic super food. Indeed, soap responds to hygiene needs but, its versatile formula, it can adapt to bring myriads of skin benefits and, In the end, The solid state makes it one of the zerowaste products par excellence since it does not need unnecessary packs.

Dublin, In the colder months, it is often humid and windy. In the first few weeks from my transfer I noticed I developed the dermatitis around the eyes. Needless to say, my cream was beginning to bother me a lot. As, One day I left the house in search of a plant: Aloe Vera. I said to myself that I would start again from a single natural ingredient to help my skin get used to the new city.
It was that day that, Returning home, I entered the kitchen, I extracted the Aloe pulp with a spoon and I transformed it into an emulsion with the whisk (It was like slaming eggs). Indeed, If you go to find the photos on my Instagram page in the past (@thebeautifulspoon), My first post is a aloe cream.
However, the nature of Ireland has given me not only necessity but also inspiration.
I love walking in local food markets and discovering small craftsmen of good things. In one of my trips to Ireland, I was on the west coast of the Ring of Kerry, I came across a wooden shop in wood where a kind lady sold natural soaps that she produced in her laboratory on the upper floor.
I remember asking them: “How he started doing soap?” And she told me that soap was a love project that began when her baby baby was covered with dermatitis. He had sought a way to care of it naturally.
He told me about the afternoons spent in the library, When there was still no internet, to read books on natural cosmetics and the day he created the first soap for his baby. He told me that the natural soap had made him heal and, The most surprising thing, is that it was done with the same ancient method 2000 years.
This story spoke to me a lot, I also had dermatitis, and intrigue me. And there that I started studying cold soap.

My dream is to make soap the first step towards the transformation of personal care into a completely natural and sustainable routine. Soap is a simple and intuitive product with a millennial story. Nevertheless, its formula so natural and effective made of 3 ingredients (water, oil and soda that, After cold saponification they turn into a salt) It has become so rare that it is found on the market.
Often what we call “soap” and we buy the supermarket no longer has these natural components. Most modern soaps are made with cleaning ingredients produced in the laboratory.
Every person who feels my soap, It allows me to carry on this mission because it is an opportunity to share an educational component (What is the soap of? What is the difference between a soap and a detergent?). The Beautiful Spoon is the name I gave to my journey of discovery that starts in my cuisine. My dream is that tomorrow this “taste”, The proof of natural soap, is the first step towards a more conscious and sustainable cosmetic consumption.
My trip is still in the research and development phase but, I will give you a little advance, Soon you can buy my online soaps on www.thebeautifulspoon.com. In the meantime, Follow me on my Instagram page (@thebeautifulspoon). I would be happy to listen to your experience with cosmetic products e, above all, inspire me of your stories to inspire the range of handmade natural soaps.

Seeking a more sustainable life starts from education and transformation of their habits. I think we all need the moment we hear that “click” that leads us to interest us with alternative consumer habits.
The Beautiful Spoon wants to be the promoter of this moment of revelation in the field of personal care. Easy Travel hosting can be that instead “click” that will make an alternative Internet consumption discover. The use of the internet does not seem like a polluting factor because we have never heard “How hot a data center is”.
Instead, let's see the running pipes every day, The chimneys of the industries and images of the city landfills that seem much more priority. I think a sustainable world does not have an order of priority, Everyone can contribute starting with their habits.
Many companies are preparing for the future of a more sustainable and Internet world, which is part of this world, It is right to be part of the great project.
