It is a pleasure to be here, Thanks for this interview. To tell how my project is born I could start from the name, ReStyled by G”, which summarizes the brand's starting point in three words: restyling on existing garments and my initial.

In fact, I identify myself a lot in what I draw and project for ReStyled And the values ​​behind the creations are mine too. In the Fashion I am born Fashion Stylist and in fact the idea was born during a styling session for a customer and friend who has relied on me. One of the products I had designed and then made it made a lot represented my style and approached the trend of the vintage and of the thrifting but also to simple but effective tailoring work with an excellent quality/price ratio.

Working in such a glossy sector but being a lot sensitive to environmental causes I have always felt fought, almost divided into two. Then when I started studying again by deepening the themes of sustainability, Of the fabrics and obviously of branding I understood that from that idea he had that day I could have created something of mine that he no longer made me feel “split” but proud to be able to create a different fashion model.

The first fundamental feature is the creative process: Instead of setting it with the classic design dynamics I set everything on the styling, just to respect my identity, Starting from existing products, looking for fabrics, finding creative solutions, interpreting different styles, Thinking about the final product according to a starting briefing that was not abstract but technical reuse, the restyling, materials and the need to create a more conscious fashion.

I started from the denim, one of the most impactful fabrics in terms of processing and then create one “styling” with Italian fabrics of excellent end -of -series quality or by remnants. Each product has been designed unique, gender, without seasonality and made by independent seamstresses according to a Slow Fashion model, or of Slow fashion in compliance with normal realization times and manual work.

By making unique products I knew that we would certainly generate waste and leftovers, A problem that obviously would have gone to affect the basic mission which also involves the reduction of waste and textile waste. We thus destined all leftovers to the most loved hair accessories, The scrunchies.

Our mission Zero waste It is based on this: generate the least possible quantity of garbage from our productions. To date we do it also thanks to the scrap capsule that allows us to collect almost all leftovers (for example excluding damaged parts of the fabric) and to reuse them for applications on jeans and denim jackets. For this capsule we have produced the first in recent months 3 capi. In addition to reducing the quantities of garbage generated this methodology allows us to reduce some costs, being able to offer competitive prices compared to the average.

What are the reasons behind the choice not adhere to the seasonal model of fashion and what do you think regarding climate change?

We have renounced seasonality for several reasons, some of which still go to enter the environmental issues. The first motivation that prompted me to think a non -seasonal fashion is that, having chosen a purely online sale, If we limited ourselves to selling seasonally we should necessarily devalue the products of the season previous inevitably contributing to the dynamics of waste and overproduction fashion. By paying attention to environmental causes, we realize that climate change is transforming the seasons and it will probably be increasingly difficult to call them, thus having to opt for a multifunctional wardrobe consisting of reaped garments, with a much longer life cycle that do not require wild exploitation of the resources of the earth.

Offering several garments and accessories in different fabrics, studying them so that they are timeless, We can guarantee a variety of products at any time of the year, without season and without trend. In this way we make the more conscious and thought of purchase according to the needs of each individual taking into account the planet that hosts us. We aim in general to reduce purchases thinking solutions that last over time and that can meet more needs in stylistic terms.

However, I believe that the real change can only take place if those who produce fashion in a more conscious way will be able to find solutions that bring these products closer to the public, Also thanks to affordable prices in compliance with each profession. Let's think about young people Genz very sensitive to the environmental causes that at this moment, according to recent investigations, they seem unable to buy the sustainable products that they crave.

It is an almost impossible challenge but we are looking for solutions in our little one. For example, diversifying our offer in terms of prescription as much as possible. Soon we will be able to diversify the products even more and therefore also the prices range by reaching both the prêt-à-porter and the cheapest range.

We also started proposing garments with applications and customizations because we can work them in a simple way (even if they require knowledge of the fabrics and very attention). We can therefore guarantee an optimal result in technical and qualitative terms but also economically sustainable.

However, we aim for the technique dell’upcycling (we will stop existing garments to make new ones) And we are about to add a first sartorial garment made according to our values ​​to our collections.

Small spoiler: Thanks to two specimens of this garment we will be able to give new life to those who were previously two elements of upholstery.

We found your philosophy very interesting Regarding the choice of your team. You could talk about it?

As for the team, I strongly wanted to collaborate from the beginning with independent seamstresses, artists who were once part of the very strong identity of Made in Italy and which today are difficult to find. Inevitably, My production is affected by the work timing of these professionals, which can therefore keep their autonomy and their clientele based on their agenda and their needs. On the other side, only, I can guarantee a more sustainable humanly supply chain, and’attention to the product and quality, Customizations and related services related to the brand, more sustainable costs and above all a really slow fashion.

In this sense, In the coming months we will try to expand the team by inserting seamstresses and tailors above all young that often, just out of professional schools and academies, they struggle to find a first location that is not limiting even if they want to continue to train.

Also with regard to the creative team that supports me in the realization of social content, of the countryside and the website, I surrounded myself with ambitious and capable people who every day, in their small, they challenge the world. All the members of the team are artists in general, complex and multifaceted personality from which I can always expect inspiration.

They too are autonomous and independent creatives who work on several projects, And for this reason they are a continuous source of ideas.

What are the personalized services you offer and how They fit into your focus model focused on sustainability?

All services related to our collections have been designed for two main reasons:

  • Fight the consumerism of fashion by offering a concrete alternative to the purchase of new garments.

We want to give the possibility to those who follow us to have unique products that protect the environment, but also the customer, proposing an economically strategic solution.

Custom-made: In this case, The service provides for complete advice, from the search for the vintage chief to the choice of fabric and details, to the choice of customization. This service always refers to denim garments. The custom-made provides that the garment is “made” ex new, But the principles of the research we carry out are always the same: vintage, second-hand, recovery, remnant, end of the series, ecc.
